With guidance and support from the Transportation Manager, the associate will ensure successful, timely deliveries and pickups on a daily basis, in accordance with retail stores, food drives, agency orders, and other associated EPFH programs including CSFP and Free Breakfast/Free Lunch Program, while ensuring being compliant with TX DOT, safety, security, regulatory and company policies.


Include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle
  • Capable of driving 26’ Box Truck
  • Assist in loading delivery trucks
  • Ensure contents are properly secured in truck prevent damage/injury
  • Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries
  • Assist in mapping driving routes
  • Stay on predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery
  • Communicate with dispatch as needed
  • Confirm that the contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document
  • Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip & report any problems immediately
  • Check weather conditions and road reports before departure
  • Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean
  • Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
  • Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
  • Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times
  • Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs
  • Track and report working hours
  • Adhere to company rules and regulations
  • Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions
  • Comply with TX DOT and interstate regulations
  • Deliver & unload trucks to agencies on schedule;
  • Pick up donated products as scheduled;
  • Maintain proper paperwork for all orders;
  • Drive forklift in a safe manner at all times;
  • Use manual or electric pallet jack when needed;
  • Make safety a priority at all times
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned;


Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years proven experience in commercial truck driving.

Certificates, Licenses or Registrations:

Valid CDL-B required, current medical card and clean driving record.

ServSafe Manager Certification (required after hire)

Forklift Certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and projects and consistently meet deadlines;
  • Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
  • Map reading and route planning experience
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles
  • Alert, focused, and detail oriented
  • Ability to appropriately interact with people while maintaining excellent customer service;
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds repeatedly during the day;
  • Available to work occasional evenings and/or weekends;
  • Ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to changing priorities;
  • Ability to work effectively under periodically stressful conditions;
  • Good problem solving skills;
  • Self motivated with the ability to interact in a team environment;
  • Positive and professional attitude and demeanor;
  • Ability to pass a background check;
  • Ability to pass random drug testing.
